Wonderful bread, as good as any I’ve had in Europe! The freshness and quality can’t be beat this side of the Atlantic!

I wish there were 10 stars to rate your exceptional authentic European style sourdough breads and pastries. They are always a treat to eat not the prosaic staple at the table.

Gonzalo carefully crafts delicious sourdough loaves that are of high European bread quality. We are so lucky to have Bethencourt Bakehouse pop-ups in Acton and Concord. He is always experimenting with new seasonal flavors and local ingredients. Run, don't walk, to wherever Gonzalo is selling sourdough next!

I have eaten more bread in the past 4 weeks than I did at anytime in the past 30 years (going through a loaf a week - as a single person). The sourdough bread is by far the best bread I have ever had in this country. I love the crust!

This is the best sourdough bread I’ve ever had in my life! We go out of our way to get a loaf from Bettencourt’s pop-ups because it’s so delicious. Do yourself a favor and get a loaf ASAP. (The cranberry muffins and chocolate chip cookies are amazing too.)

I find Gonzalo Bethencourt to be not only an excellent baker of nutritious sourdough breads with outstanding flavor, moistness, and texture, but one who is willing to discuss the process that he uses. His breads are far superior to super market breads, and incorporate beneficial health benefits that most other bakery breads do not have. The breads are freshly baked and available generally the same day in Acton and Concord MA stores. I love good breads, and his are by far the best in the Boston and surrounding areas! Given that Gonzalo does not add preservatives, the breads can be frozen and later toasted for a good flavor. While I have enjoyed eating each of the breads he bakes, my favorites are the Sourdough Multigrain Rye with Seeds (which has corn for a crisp crust), the Sourdough Rye with Cranberry and Walnuts, and the German Rye Sourdough (made in a classic European style, unlike even other Rye breads). Try one, and you’ll experience the difference in flavor, texture, nutrition!
